Republican Liberty Caucus Endorses Mark Bircher for Congress in Florida

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – The Republican Liberty Caucus is pleased to announce its endorsement of Brigadier General Mark Bircher for Congress in Florida’s 13th Congressional District.

“General Bircher is exactly the kind of candidate we need to represent the people’s best interests in Congress” RLC National Chairman Matt Nye said. “His long and exemplary record of service, along with his principled stance on the issues, make him an excellent candidate that we are proud to endorse.”

Mark Bircher is a graduate of the Naval Academy and the Navy Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun). He served on active duty and as a reservist from 1971 until his retirement in 2009 as Brigadier General. From 1985-1987 he also served as a member of the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels. He is a member of the Florida Bar and works as a commercial airline pilot flying the Boeing 777.

“I can think of no better way to honor Bill Young’s legacy than to have one of our nation’s finest continue what he started in addressing the needs of our veterans,” RLC of Florida Vice-Chairman and lifelong Pinellas County resident Joe Jordan said. “Mark’s understanding of the role of government and the Constitution make him an ideal candidate for an RLC endorsement. We are thrilled and thankful that General Bircher has chosen to run in our district, and we are honored to support him.”

Mark Bircher faces David Jolly and Kathleen Peters in the January 14th Republican Special Election Primary. The winner will face Democrat Alex Sink and Libertarian Lucas Overby in the general election on March 11th.
